Aerosol Sprays Can Cause Turf Damage

While inspecting the the course yesterday morning a brown spot in number one fairway caught my eye. Upon further inspection I realized it was were someone had either applied a bug or sunscreen spray. You can see where the footprints remain good turf quality but all around them the leaves have tip burn and are discolored. I know that most people would not think twice about applying such products anywhere on the golf course, but maybe now we will in an effort to not damage the turf.

This week we will be doing a very thorough job on bunkers and checking depths for adequate sand levels. Fairways will be lightly verticut. The greens are healing perfectly with some more plugging to be completed through the remainder of the week.
